As the information technology age gets into full swing, it is becoming more and more necessary for publishers to understand their audiences, to know their preferences. Content is important, but the presentation of this content and the platform on which it is consumed play an increasingly significant role in the way it is perceived by the public.

Innovative text-to-video creation platform Wibbitz have conducted a study on how different audiences and demographics respond to the newest media technologies employed by publishers. The study covered four of the most recent developments in news publishing technology: Live Video; Chatbots; Wearables and Virtual Reality.

Live video turned out to be the definite winner, explained by the fact that the other three technologies are still in an early stage of their development and use as a commercial product. Chatbots proved to be most popular among social media users, while wearables and virtual reality have not yet reached such an impressive audience due to high prices and low availability. Nevertheless, use of these technologies is on the rise, and according to Wibbitz publishers would do well to get on board as soon as possible.
